2012-2013: IT10G – Semester 2

Information Technology 10G Archive

Welcome to the course information where I keep an informal log of the weekly events in the course as well as track the current assignments.

  • Week 1: After getting the course outline, and explaining the details of the course; the students did a first day biography assignment, and then began work on a computer animation project making a music video from a song file randomly assigned
  • Week 2: students worked through the week on their music video presentation projects, with a PowerPoint tutorial from me, and individual help as needed
  • Week 3: students worked through the week to complete their music videos and started presenting them to the class on Friday
  • Week 4: students completed showing their music video projects, and then we began a series of tutorials to learn Adobe Flash for computer animation
  • Week 5: we completed our Adobe Flash tutorials, and started our introduction to Computer Science unit – looking at a program called Scratch
  • Week 6: we completed our Scratch programming tutorials, and then completed an assignment in another programming introduction software package called “Alice” – we completed the week starting a look at our final introductory programming software package called “Greenfoot”
  • Week 7: we continued and finished our look at Greenfoot, and then worked on a software tutorial called “Google Sketch-up”, finally we ended the week with a career activity using a website
  • Week 8: we started our last unit with a introduction to web page development. Students learned how to code a basic web page, basic formatting, and adding images to a web page. Students worked on assignments 1 and 2.
  • Week 9: in our last week together, the class finished the final web page assignment and worked on a creative project to complete the course
  • Week 10: After switching the term, a new group of students started this course, and after getting the course outline, and explaining the details of the course; the students did a first day biography assignment, and then began work on a computer animation project making a music video from a song file randomly assigned
  • Week 11: students worked through the week on their computer animation music video project
  • Week 12: students completed work on their computer animation music videos and presented them to their classmates for evaluation
  • Week 13: we had a few more music video presentations, and we spent the week looking at computer animation using Adobe Flash through several examples
  • Week 14: we completed the Flash tutorials and started our next unit: Introduction To Computer Science by looking at a program called Scratch
  • Week 15: we completed our unit in Computer Science with Scratch, another program called Alice, and finally a program called Greenfoot
  • Week 16: we started our week working on a software tutorial called “Google Sketch-up”, and then started our unit on web page development by looking at basic XHTML coding and basic text formatting

  1. Hello there! It’s difficult to find anything interesting in this particular subject (that is not overly simplistic), because everything related to 3D seems rather difficult. You however seem like you know what you’re talking about 🙂 Thank you for spending your time writing some relevant content for us!
