  • Week 6: early in the week, I surveyed the class on how much of the current drawing unit they have completed and how much is still in progress. As a result, the (shorter) week was assigned as a “catch-up” week for those students whose mark was lower as a result of incomplete work. Students worked through the week on current assignments.
  • Week 7: we continued our drawing unit with a presentation on portrait drawing along with an assignment to go with the presentation. We completed the week continuing our independent project work (week 5)

  • Week 9: after spring break I was away on a field trip for two days and the students had work catch up time. When I returned, the students worked on completing current art assignments and started our drawing unit project
  • Week 10: this was a work week for students to catch up on any drawing assignments (1 – 7) from the drawing unit and work on the unit drawing project
  • Week 11: due to student request and a student survey, this was another work week for students to catch up on any drawing assignments (1 – 7) from the drawing unit and work on the unit drawing project

  • Week 14: early in the week, I surveyed the class on how much of the current color media unit they have completed along with any outstanding assignments from our previous drawing unit (including the unit project), and how much is still in progress. As a result, the week was assigned as a “catch-up” week for those students whose mark was lower as a result of incomplete work. Students worked through the week on current assignments.
  • Week 15: we continued our color media unit by looking at the Gestalt principles and the 7 elements of visual art. Students worked through the week on the third assignment of the unit and completed the week with our independent work day (week 9)
  • Week 16: students worked through the week on completing their color media unit and catching up on any incomplete work from other units
  • Week 17: students were surveyed as to their progress as we enter the final two weeks of the course. As a result, students were given a choice of using the time remaining to work on an independent project, or catching up on previous course work. The idea was to give the time to finalize the course in the way that the students want, or need to ensure the grade they are working towards.
